Privacy Policy

About This Extension

Hallmark Tag & Weight Capture Pro ("the Extension") is a browser extension designed for BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) hallmarking centers. It generates printable jewelry tags, captures article weights, and automates data entry on the BIS Hallmarking portal (huid.manakonline.in).

The Extension is developed and maintained by VedTech.

Data Collection

The Extension collects and processes the following data:

• License Key: Entered by the user to activate the Extension. Validated against our Firebase-based license server.
• Device Identifier: A randomly generated anonymous identifier used solely to enforce single-device license activation. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally.
• Extension Settings: Your preferences (tag size, template choice, weight format) are stored locally in your browser using the browser's Storage API. This data never leaves your device.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do not collect:

• No browsing history or website activity
• No personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
• No BIS portal login credentials
• No jewelry article data, HUID numbers, or weight information
• No cookies or tracking identifiers
• No analytics or telemetry data

Website Access

The Extension only activates on huid.manakonline.in (the official BIS Hallmarking portal). It does not run on, access, or interact with any other website. The Extension reads table data from the BIS page to generate tags and perform auto-fill operations. All processing happens locally within your browser.

External Communications

The Extension communicates with external servers only for license validation:

• Server: Google Firebase (firestore.googleapis.com)
• Purpose: Verify license key validity and device activation status
• Data sent: License key and anonymous device ID only
• Frequency: On extension activation and periodic re-validation

No other external network requests are made by the Extension.

Data Storage

All extension settings and preferences are stored locally using the browser's built-in Storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data remains on your device and is removed when you uninstall the Extension.

Third-Party Libraries

The Extension bundles the following open-source libraries for local processing only. None of these make external network calls:

• jsPDF — PDF generation (local)
• JsBarcode — Barcode generation (local)
• qrcode.js — QR code generation (local)
• SheetJS (xlsx) — Excel file reading/writing (local)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share any user data with third parties. The anonymous device identifier used for license validation is not shared with anyone outside of our license verification system.

Children's Privacy

This Extension is a professional tool designed for use by BIS-registered hallmarking centers. It is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Google API Services User Data Policy

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
